- Ken Ginsburg. M.D., "Building Resilience in Children and Teens: Preparing Our Children for Life"

More than 900 people heard pediatrician and author Kenneth Ginsburg speak March 25th on "Building Resilience in Children and Teens: Preparing our children for life." He discussed how children and teens can develop positive coping strategies; the red flags of an at-risk youth; and how youth can develop the seven C's -- competence, confidence, connection, character, contribution, coping and control.

Video of his 90-minute presentation is posted online in three parts:
 - Part 1
 - Part 2

Ginsburg specializes in adolescent medicine at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and also serves as director of health services at a shelter for homeless and disenfranchised youth.

He has written several books, including "A Parent's Guide to Building Resilience in Children & Teens: Giving Your Child Roots & Wings" and "But I'm Almost 13: An Action Plan for Raising a Responsible Adolescent," and he co-authored "Less Stress, More Success."

He emphasizes the developmental strengths of youth and aims to equip parents and educators with the skills to help children help themselves.

As part of his career, Ginsburg "aims to start a national dialogue among parents and children of all ages to redefine perceptions of success and evaluate the significant physical and emotional damage that stress and everyday pressures can have on development," according to his biography from The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.

"He seeks to create strategies to raise resilient children who are capable of dealing with life's difficulties and who learn from personal defeats."
